GLOBAL SCIENCE ACADEMY (GSA) IS CELEBRATING ITS 2O YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE HUMANITY!!!

Nominations

GSA has been nominated for NGO Liaison Committee of the UNAIDS Programme Committee Board (PCB), commonly referred as the NGO PCB delegation, to work from Asia/Pacific Region. The nomination was supported by BBC World Service Trust and other organisations working on HIV/AIDS in Asia/Pacific Region. The mission of NGO PCB delegates is to bring the PCB policy and strategy decisions a perspective and focus on all PLWHA and their rights, particularly access to prevention/harm reduction, treatment, care, and support, as universal goods.

The tasks of the NGO PCB delegates are:

(1)Consult the local, national and regional communities, organisations and networks of NGOs, CBOs and groups of PLWHA in order to:

  • Identify regional and target group-specific emerging issues
  • Guarantee regional access to all UNAIDS relevant information and documents
  • Collect regional input on UNAIDS plans and programme execution
  • Guarantee the quality and comprehensiveness of their representative's contribution to the PCB wor
(2) Designate and support competent and effective representatives
(3) Allocate 10 per cent of their representative's time to PCB duties and tasks
(4) Facilitate and guarantee the uses of office space and communications systems and facilities to their representatives when engaged in PCB duties and tasks
(5) Maintain communication with the UNAIDS focal points of co-sponsoring organisations
(6) Maintain communication with UNAIDS and co-sponsoring organisations desks at country or regional level

Additionally, GSA is State Coordinator (UP) of the Global Health Council's (US) International AIDS Candlelight Memorial since 2003.
