Recognitions

An international organisation - Engender Health, New Delhi office, studied various activities of GSA, especially the work done under the AIDS control project Targeted Intervention amongst Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs), Basti'. The case study was presented before eminent HIV/AIDS professionals, officials and dignitaries from India and abroad during a workshop on HIV/AIDS organised in Agra, India, in the last week of January 2004. Later ths case study became part of the workshop proceedings published under the title Prevention of HIV/AIDS in Uttar Pradesh (Agra, January 29-31, 2004).

Other recognitions include:

  • Dr Singh honoured by the Principal Secretary (Health), Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Project Director, UP State AIDS Control Society (UPSACS), in a grand function on the eve of the World AIDS Day 2006, organised by CARE, Lucknow, and UPSACS in Lucknow, for his dedicated service in HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control in UP.
  • Paper titled Fight against HIV/AIDS in Resource Limited Conditions - an Effective, Efficient, Realistic and Acceptable Approach authored by Dr Singh was accepted at 16th International AIDS Conference (2006), Toronto (Canada).
  • Dr Singh worked as Consultant for Resource Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS, New Delhi, for profiling of organisations in different States and Union Territories of India, implementing targeted intervention projects (of NACO). He has done profiling in the States/Union Territories of Goa, Haryana, Chandigarh, Daman and Diu, Sikkim and Rajasthan.
  • Dr Singh is also one of the founder (executive) members of the District Health Society, Basti, being headed by the District Magistrate, Basti, and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Basti.
